At long last, fans in the US
can now listen to the 'best' of Bryan Ferry--both solo material and classics
from his days with Roxy Music. Essentially the same as the discs released in
Europe a few years ago (minus 2 songs), the 19 tracks on the disc cover most,
but not all, of the singer's recorded output from the first Roxy album through
his latest solo effort, As Time Goes By.
Even at close to 75 minutes, there was just no way that this disc could include everything though. The most glaring omission is the complete lack of tunes from the Country Life album. Single versions are used wherever possible, so the diehard Ferry/Roxy fans will be disappointed. But the disc is an excellent starting point for the newbies out there, discovering this music for the first time.
